Photokina 2012: Tamron has announced the SP 70-200mm F/2.8 Di VC USD, a fast telephoto zoom lens that features optical image stabilization and an ultrasonic-type autofocus motor. Designed for both full frame and APS-C cameras, it's billed as the smallest in its class. It features moisture-resistant construction, and has a circular aperture diaphragm for pleasing rendition of out-of-focus
As a lightweight f2.8 more affordable 70-200 zoom for general use without VR and limited close up ability it seems to me a first class lens. Matt Grainger estimated IBIS is 2-3 stops lower than the 5 stops specification of the Nikon 70-200 f2.8. Based on this single estimate IBIS is worth about 2.5 stops.
1. Matt Irwin has a pretty nice comparo of the 70-180 vs the Z70-200 and the 70-200 E FL and 70-200 G VR. If I didn't already own the F-mount E FL, I'd certainly buy the 70-180. In one of the nighttime video scenes with oncoming vehicle lights, the 70-180 showed zero ghosting and on the Z 70-200 it was very prominent.

The Nikon NIKKOR Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S Lens with UV Filter Kit from B&H bundles the versatile telephoto zoom lens with a 77mm multicoated UV filter to absorb ultraviolet light and protect the front of the lens.
The Tamron 70-210mm F4 Di VC USD is a lightweight telephoto zoom lens for DSLR cameras that comes in at an MSRP of $799 / £699 / €799, undercutting its Nikon and Canon competitors significantly. Despite the wallet-friendly price tag, the Tamron offers solid build quality and good optical performance.
Canon has prioritised size over quality, all of Nikon's holy trinity of f/2.8 zooms are the clear winners in IQ. The 14-24 is a much better lens than the 15-35 IMO. I intensely dislike the new 70-200's from Canon more so due to abandoning TC support. I regularly use my EF 70-200 f/2.8 with a 1.4x TC.
MOD reduced to 0.95m. Improvements to the new SP 70-200mm F/2.8 G2 extend well into the lens barrel. Tamron has reduced the MOD from 1.3m (50.7 in) in our older model to 0.95m (37.4 in), allowing a maximum magnification ratio of 1:6.1. The shorter MOD, coupled with the superb optical performance of this new zoom, allows you to significantly
The Tamron SP 70-200 F/2.8 Di VC USD G2 feels just as at home on APS-C and DX cameras as on a full-frame camera. On full frame, it is a nice telephoto lens with a brightness of f/2.8, ideal for portraits with a beautiful bokeh. With the crop factor of a camera like the Nikon D7200, the Tamron SP 70-200 has a range of 105-300mm and, in

For years, Nikon's 70-200 f/2.8 lens has been the benchmark for fast telephoto zoom lenses, unrivaled for low-light, sports, wildlife, concerts, weddings, portraits and everyday shooting. This new version takes that legendary performance to the next level with the same jaw-dropping image quality that has made it a prized lens of pros and
The older 70-200mm/f2.8 AF-S VR has less breathing, but it is well known that at 200mm, its corner sharpness is terrible, at any aperture. I have both lenses and the VR II is clearly the better lens, at a higher cost..
Moreover, any lens' official focal length is always measured when the lens is focused to infinity.

The Nikon 70 200mm VR II is 3.43 x 3.43 x 8.23 inches and even bigger with the included lens hood attached – which is a good idea to protect the front element of the lens. I personally think the size of this lens is obnoxious but if looking like you’re carrying around a bazooka is your thing, then there won’t be any issues.
The Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 EX DG OS HSM is the company’s latest 70-200mm and its first with an image stabilizer. It covers a 2.9x zoom-range and was announced February 2011. Sigma offers this lens with Canon, Nikon, Sony, Pentax and Sigma mounts and it is cheaper than any other stabilized 70-200/2.8 zoom.
